They are some of our favorite places to be.
Every year Fred seems to hand over another section of lawn to be cultivated into a garden for flowers, grasses and herbs.
This years new additions will be a kitchen garden and a patch of gourds. Yes we are going to grow our own birdhouses!
Spaced throughout the yard are bird and butterfly feeders, bird houses, toad abodes, and decorative items made of gourds, wood, copper, slate, stone and other natural materials.
We enjoy visits from a variety of birds and small wildlife every day.
Our yard is registered with the National Wildlife Federation as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat.
Our lives have been blessed with 3 grandsons Freddy, Liam and Rory.
They are a joy to us.
We have decided to help provide for their futures while sharing our love for gardening and the outdoors by opening Feather the Nest. All of the profits from Feather the Nest will go into the boys College Funds.
Feather the Nest will offer hand painted bird houses and other bird related items made from gourds and found items, as well as some substantial wood birdhouses made by Fred.
You can view photos of our outdoor spaces, our birdhouses, and our babies at http://www.flickr.com/photos/featherthenest/
You can shop for birdhouses at Feather The Nest our online etsy store.
