Jewels of Our Watergarden

This morning I enjoyed the gift of waking up without an alarm clock.
Having no particular place to go and no arms length list of things to accomplish, I started the day drinking coffee in the garden.
I was greeted by birdsong as I opened the slider so that Emily and I could go outside.
The pond is covered in lily pads and waterlilies in white, yellow and pink decorate it's surface. The frog that serenades me to sleep each night was perched on one of the pads.
Dragonflies darted around the waters surface as the fish swam leisurely in laps.
The butterfly bush nearby is in bloom, Rugosa roses are full of pink blossoms, and blue and pink morning glories bared their faces to the sun.
Every time the breeze picked up I caught the sweet scent of the honeysuckle growing over the moon gate.

It's officially summertime in the garden. I can't think of a nicer place to be.

Baby News

Fred and I had the pleasure of minding Freddy J today while his Mom and Dad went to their visit with the Neonatologist.
They found out on Monday that one of the triplets had stopped developing and was no longer viable. We were saddened at the loss but happy that there will be no ill effects to Becky or the remaining two.
Dr. Dexter gave Mom as well as twins A and B his blessing as a healthy pregnancy.

Freddy went swimming in the pool for the first time today. It took him a few moments to get used to the 80 degree water but after the initial surprise he loved it..........all except splashing which we will have to get him used to. As you can see he has already learned to use the water bomb animals.

Sea Glass Jewelry

Some time has passed since our sea glass gathering vacation in Rockport, Massachusetts and I can't wait to show you what I have been up to.
The work has been enhanced thanks in part to my wonderful husband Fred who purchased a stand that turns my Dremel tool into a drill press!!!!!
That and a few diamond tipped drill bits put me in business.

The set up looks like this..............and as long as you work slowly and carefully you can drill perfect little holes in glass!

I found the directions here on You Tube.

This technique has allowed me to make these lovely stacked glass pendants and to more easily wrap these clear glass pieces.
I am really enjoying this new skill and have learned through trial and error how not to burn up the drill bits and how not to crack the glass just when you are almost through. Learning is good.
So much sea glass........so little time.

It's a Wonderful Life

This was a GREAT weekend!
I was on call for the hospital on Friday night ......and the phone didn't ring.
Saturday morning Fred and I went to the local greenhouse here in Malta and found the morning glories and nasturtiums we had been looking for as well as a huge hanging basket grape tomato plant that now resides on our pergola. We came home in time to plant them in the rain. I love summer rain.
Life is good.
After coming in from the planting we cleaned up and went to a party at the home of my cousin John and his girlfriend Kit. They are 2 of the world's good people. They make each other happy......as a matter of fact I haven't seen John so happy in a very long time.
It was a party to celebrate the construction of their barn and to thank all who attended for their help in the Barn raising that had spanned a few months in the fall and early winter. You see Kit raises horses, so she and John built a barn. We ate wonderful food and visited with family and friends...all the while braving upstate New York's thunderstorms complete with hail. As the storms passed late in the afternoon and the sun started peaking through John took a few moments to thank us all for coming and for helping he and Kit in their efforts to build the barn.
He then asked us to stay a little longer as they were getting married right now!!!! We were all so happy and surprised. The only people who knew were a friend and former Judge who was the officiant and the 3 grown up children that they have between them. The wedding took place in their beautiful yard with the barn in the background as family friends and horses looked on.
Life is very good.
Sunday I spent in my jewelry store The FamiLee Jewels, At The Warehouse. I caught up on all the Warehouse news, visited with vendors I haven't seen in a few weeks, petted Dutch and Salvage, looked at all the new merchandise, drank tea, listened to Mike Thomas sing, made jewelry, and had a wonderful time despite the fact that there were no sales today. From the Warehouse I went to Becky's house where there was a pampered chef party in progress. I got there just after the demos, got to eat the food, share stories of the weekend with our extended family and snuggle with our little Freddy J.
Life is very,very good.
